Gerald A. Albers of Blackwell died in Norman Municipal Hospital Friday, Feb. 23, 1996, at the age of 54.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday in the First Presbyterian Church. Rev. Geoffery Pfaff, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the Newkirk Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home. Casket bearers will be Bud Coffman, Danny Janda, Bob Sattre, Marvin Keatlind, Doug Klinger and Johnny Burnett.
Mr. Albers was born March 20, 1941, in Ponca City to John Albert and Aileen (McFall) Albers. He grew up in Kildare, attending schools there until the eighth grade, then attending Ponca City High School, graduating in 1959. He then attended Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa for two years.
He married Joy Marie Murray, June 27, 1970, in Hillsdale and they settled in Blackwell, living here since. He began farming at that time until his death. He also worked for the ASCS office, co-ops at Tonkawa and Billings, and was insurance agent for Prudential and American General companies.
He was active in the Takedown Club of Blackwell High School. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his wife, Joy; one daughter, Tina Albers; two sons, Ty Albers and Jeff Albers, all of the home; one sister, Nancy Albers of Newkirk; Three brothers, LeRoy Albers and Jay Albers of Newkirk, and Max Albers of Kildare. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Youth Group, or Blackwell wrestling.
